A great close friend, Katie L. Ford is sharing her Wild Cherry Pepsi Ham recipe with all of us. She sent in the recipe and pictures! (I am making this Ham today actually!) ;)
Ingredients/Tools:
Spiral Ham
Whole Cloves
Brown Sugar (enough to cover the whole ham)
Can of Pineapple
Jar of Maraschino Cherries
12-18oz of Wild Cherry Pepsi
Toothpicks
Crockpot
Foil
1. Turn your crockpot on LOW.
2. Put the HAM in the crockpot, add the ham's juice. (You have the option to use the glaze package that comes with the ham...I do not recommend to use the glaze as this recipe's sauce is sweet enough for me.)
3. Add WHOLE CLOVES: inserting it into the ham in a diamond pattern all over the ham, on the sides, tops and front.
4. Take a handful of BROWN SUGAR, clump it on the top of the ham, repeat until ham's covered in brown sugar. The front is tricker to do since the sugar crumbles down into the pot. That's okay if it happens!
5. Open the can of PINEAPPLES, drizzle the juice in the crockpot. Using toothpick, insert each pineapple on the ham.
6. Then insert WHOLE CLOVES 2 to 4 studs into each pineapple.
7. Next, using toothpick, insert maraschino cherries all over the ham.
When you are done with cherries, pour the remaining cherry juice all over the ham. It adds more flavor!
8. Then, measure about 12 to 18oz of WILD CHERRY PEPSI and pour it all over the ham, letting the pop melt the brown sugar. The pop and sugar and cherry juice will all drizzle in the spiral slices, which makes it soo delicious all over.
9. Cover the crockpot with foil. Baste the juice all over the ham every 30 minutes for 6 to 8 hours, depending on how tender you like your ham.
Also forgot that you should stir the pop/juice/sugar mixture to keep it smooth :)
***You can cook the ham in the oven for 2.5 to 3.5 hours in a 350 degrees oven. Cover with foil and baste every 30 minutes until done. In the last 10 to 15 mins of cooking, take off the foil for the ham to crisp on the top***
Thanks KATIE L. FORD for sharing your ham recipe!
